At just 20 years old, Central Queensland singer-songwriter Mackenzie May is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new voices in Australian country music. Raised in a small regional town in Queensland, Mackenzie grew up immersed in the classic country and roots sounds of her grandparents’ record collection — an early influence that shaped the heartfelt storytelling now defining her music.

Mackenzie first gained attention after being discovered at a talent quest while still in high school. Since then, her rise has been swift. Her debut single “Little Things” has surpassed 500,000 streams and received airplay across major Australian country networks including ABC Country, iHeartCountry Australia, and KIX Country, while also debuting in the Countrytown Hot 50. In 2025 she was recognised as Best Youth Artist at the Queensland Music Awards.

Building on that momentum, Mackenzie was named a finalist in the prestigious Toyota Star Maker at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and will take the stage at CMC Rocks, Australia’s largest country music festival. She is also preparing for her first songwriting trip to Nashville later this year.

Her debut EP All The Little Things, recorded with collaborator Jared Adlam showcases Mackenzie’s ability to blend emotional honesty with classic country storytelling. The collection explores themes of love, loss, and growing up, highlighting a songwriter with maturity and depth well beyond her years.

Influenced by artists such as Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Lucinda Williams, Colter Wall and Sierra Ferrell, Mackenzie May’s music combines timeless country grit with the perspective of a new generation.

“The EP is about embracing every part of life — the chaos, the calm, the heartbreak, the beauty,” Mackenzie says. “It’s me saying: don’t just give me the easy parts. I want it all.”
